Evelyn F. Woods (Tootie) was called home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, September 28, 2017.  She was born on March 26, 1928 to the late Harry and Mildred Gordon Jones of Norfolk.  Tootie as she was affectionately called was a graduate of the Booker T. Washington Class of 1947.  After graduation she married the love of her life William H. Woods and they shared this bond for 55 years.

After marriage Tootie and William moved to New York where she continued her education.  She received her Bachelor’s Degree from the College of New Rochelle in 1981.  She began her career with the City of New York Human Resources Administration until her Retirement in 1989.

Upon returning to Virginia she devoted her time to Child Care in her community where she fell in love with and adopted her granddaughter Shamyra Fulford.  She loved traveling, playing spades and spending time with her family.

She was a former member of New Calvary Baptist Church in Norfolk.

She leaves to cherish her memory two nieces, Adrienne Jackson and Sharon Lassiter (Terry), one nephew, Phillip Jackson, adopted granddaughter Shamyra Fulford and a host of great nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was predeceased by her husband, William H. Woods, siblings, Raymond M. Jones, Sr. and Victoria Jones Jackson.
