"I have fought the good fight; I have finished the race; I have kept the faith. II Timothy 4:7 Sarah (Sister) Elizabeth Wilson Gordon departed this life for her heavenly home on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at Chesapeake Regional Medical Center. She was a loving and devoted Child of God. A virtuous woman, a loyal sister, cousin, and friend. She was respected by many and kept the words of her mouth and meditations of her heart on Christ Jesus always. She loved the Lord and kept him first in all things. Sarah was born September 20, 1940, to the late Beulah Bunnell Grandy and Sylvester Wilson. She was a proud graduate of Crestwood High School. She worked in Nursing for several years at Portsmouth General Hospital Medical Center in Fayetteville, North Carolina and Cape Fear Hospital in Seattle, Washington. She was baptized at an earlier age and attended St. Thomas AMEZ Church in the Mount Pleasant area of Chesapeake, Virginia where she worked in several areas of the church and sang in the choir. She attended New Weeping Mary Baptist Church and Centerville AME Church in the Fentress area to visit as a child and adult. She was taught to fellowship with other churches in the area. She later joined Rock Church International as an adult. She spoke of the Pastors, Ministers and members of Rock Church often, with a beautiful smile and heart of gratefulness for the constant visits. With her failing health, she chose to be placed in the Chesapeake Health and Rehab Center until her death. She continued to worship her Savior, Jesus Christ weekly at the Chesapeake Health Care and Rehab Center Nursing Home Ministry. She was preceded in death by her father, Sylvester Wilson; mother, Beulah Bunnell Grandy (Rayfield Anderson Grandy); Son, Christopher Wilson Gordon; Brothers, Edward Grandy (Gloria), Charlie Grandy (Pearl), and Paul Grandy (Alberta). She leaves to mourn three sisters, Virginia Harvey of Oxford, GA, Leatrice Grandy Williams (Melvin) of Shreveport, LA, and Peggy L. Clemons (Herb) of Oxford, GA; one aunt, Mary Bunnell Allbritton of Chesapeake, VA, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
