Terri Winters

Ms. Terri Winters was born August 18, 1964 in Hayti, Missouri, to the late Bernard Moore Sr. and Ruth Moore. Terri grew up in Waterloo, Iowa and was a graduate of West High School. She also received her cosmetologist license and did hair for many years. She was a faithful and dedicated member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church prior to moving to Virginia in 2004, where she became a member of Joy Everlasting Church. Terri blessed everyone with her beautiful gift of song. At New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, Terri began directing the choir at the young age of 12 and continued with this role throughout her adulthood. She also was a member of a singing group known as the Faithful Force that traveled the state of Iowa singing gospel music. Terri not only touched people with music, but also with her compassion and kindness towards others. She always had a contagious smile and could find the fun in any situation. For over two years Terri fought the good fight, kept the faith, finished her race and on Saturday, February 18, 2017, she received her crown of righteousness.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Al Winters; her father, Bernard Moore Sr.; and one brother, Bernard Moore Jr. Terri leaves to cherish her memory, her two daughters, Tiangela Player-Bellard (Norfolk, VA) and Danitrica (Aaron) Luke(Norfolk, VA); her mother, Ruth Moore (Charlotte, NC); two brothers, Marlon Moore (Norfolk, VA) and Anthony (Jennifer)Smith, (Charlotte, NC); her grandchildren, Tamari, Dioni, Jaymes Jr., Jaelyn, Aaron Jr., Aaminah, and one on the way; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She also had two special friends who were by her side until the very end, Ms. Sheila and Ms. Linda.
Service will be held Saturday February 25, 2017 at 10:00AM at Keith Matthews Funeral Home located at 5665 E. Virginia Beach Blvd. Norfolk, VA 23502. At the request of the family they will be receiving houseplants only.
