Barbara Redmon

Barbara Spady Scoby Redmon, 77, was called home to eternal rest on July 18, 2018. Barbara was born on December 25, 1940, in Norfolk, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elbert C. and Rosa C. Spady; her sister, Rosa C. Haynes; and her brother, Elbert Lee Spady, whom she lovingly cared for following the death of her parents.

She attended the public schools in Norfolk and was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School. Barbara resided in Philadelphia, PA the last 33 years following her marriage to George Redmon in 1985. She was a devoted, lifelong member of Sanctuary Church of the Open Door in Philadelphia where she served on the Usher Board.

Left with precious memories of Barbara are brother, Carl E. Spady; sons, Michael Scoby, Robert Scoby, and James Scoby; daughters, Vickie Scoby Jones, and Valerie Scoby, all of Norfolk, VA; 13 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; aunts Geraldine P. Hinton of Virginia Beach, VA, Barbara Patterson of Norfolk, VA; Shirley Patterson of Mitchellville, MD; Helen Patterson of Norfolk, VA; two special friends—June Shorts and Clifton “Deac” Lewis of Philadelphia, PA, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
