Carolyn Sample Obituary

First Lady Carolyn Ann Sample, of New Mt Olive Baptist Church in Hacksneck, VA, the wife of Pastor Scott Sample and the daughter of the late James and Thelma Beckett, departed this life on Thursday, August 8, 2019 at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital.

Carolyn was born March 31, 1955 in Northampton County and a graduate of Northampton High School.  Carolyn accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. She met the love of her life, Scott, in August of 1983 at Crockett & Son Seafood.  Shortly after meeting they were united in Holy Matrimony on January 17, 1984.

Carolyn was employed at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital as a Dietary Aide touching the lives of many with her warm affectionate smile and meek spirit.  Carolyn spoiled her husband, kids, grandkids and dog “Choco”.

She leaves to cherish loving memories: her husband, Pastor Scott Sample, three children, Lamont Beckett (Chasity), Sharnetta (Vandell) Taylor, Setina Sample; two grandchildren, Aiyana and Ariyah; one brother, James Beckett; father and mother-in-law, Deacon Obediah (Marian) Sample; two sister-in-law’s, Donna Smith and Greta Sample; two brother-in-law’s, Maurice (Rochelle) Sample and Darrell Sample.  Four aunts, Dorothy, Deloris, Helen and Brenda; one uncle, George (Lenoia), Special Friends, Pastor Frank (Wanda) Morris and Sandra Satchell, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
