Courtney B. Spence was born June 29, 1979 to George and Constance Spence in Norfolk, VA. Courtney attended Green Hill Farms Academy, Bayside Middle School and Bayside High School Class of 1996. She attended Norfolk State University and graduated Tidewater Community College with a degree in Tourism & Hospitality Management. As a child she attended Foster Bataan, Golden Slippers and Honey in the Rock. Courtney was an active member of Discipleship Tabernacle VB, VA where she served on the praise team and the women's court. She was also a member of Warrior Generation. She was previously a member of Revelation Tabernacle Norfolk, VA (currently Revelation International Ministries), where she served on the Rhema choir. Courtney was also a member of The Nutone Interdenominational Chorale Chesapeake.
Courtney was a very caring and loving person who enjoyed cooking, baking, coaching little league baseball, watching NY Knicks play, and most of all The Pittsburgh Steelers where her favorite player was Antonio Brown. She was very funny, loved to crack jokes, and you would never catch her without her cell phone. Her all times favorites were twizzlers, crabs, and mentos. She was known as the “Coupon Queen” and loved sharing the gift of couponing.
Courtney loved and lived for her 5 children; 3 sons and 2 dogs (1 deceased). She was a very active mother. She attended all of her boys’ sports and school events. She was an active member of the PTSA throughout their school journey. She raised her 3 sons to the best of her ability by nurturing and encouraging them to become positive young men. She Succeeded!! All 3 are Bayside High School Graduates Classes of 2015, 2017 and 2018. 2 are currently Tidewater Community College Students and the other to start Virginia State University in the fall. She had a right to be proud She Rocked!!!
She was predeceased by her father George B. Spence. She leaves to cherish her memory her mother Constance Spence, three Sons Kordell Harris Spence, Tavis Caleb Alexander Spence, and Kameron Xavier Spence. two brothers George B. Spence Jr. and Geoffrey B. Spence, one nephew Brian Spence, one Great Niece Janae A. Jackson. Grandmother Mamie R. Spence, Aunts Easter Janet Sumler, Gloria L. Mason, Uncles Herbert Hasan, James G. Hoffler, Her Best Friends Monique Campbell and Rob “King Potato Wedge” Jones and a host of cousins & family members.
