Gary Tompkins

Gary Tompkins was born May 22, 1942 in Newport News, VA. He went home to be with the Lord, surrounded by his family, on December 13, 2018. Even in sickness, Gary was a courageous fighter, and we rejoice in knowing that he has won the victory.

 Gary was the son of the late William Blizzard and Margarette Harrison-Price. He was educated in the Newport News Public School System. He was employed with Evans Products, as a forklift driver, for many years. He was an avid Redskins fan. In his free time, he enjoyed traveling and spending time with family.

 Gary was married to the late Sarah Tompkins. The two wed in March 25, 1960. From this union came four beautiful children.

In addition to his wife and parents, Gary is pre-deceased by his grandmother Safronia Davis, sister Anne Williams, two brothers Julius “Butchie” Williams and Willie “Big Man” Price, and grandson Gregory W. Perry, Jr. Left to cherish his memories are four children, Carnell Hendrick (Alveta), Felecia Wilson, Gary Tompkins (Mona), and Valjean Perry (Gregory); five brothers, Freeman Blizzard (Merlon), William “Bill” Blizzard, Andrew Blizzard, Derek Price, and Palace “Bum” Williams; four sisters, Helen “Lois” Sanders, Cynthia Williams, Beatrice Jones, and Estelle Blizzard; stepmother, Estelle Blizzard, 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends.
