On Tuesday, August 22, 2017, God dispatched an angel to bring home the soul of our lovely Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Aunt, Sister and Friend. Sis. Lena Mae Harris Clark, a North Carolina native, was born to the late Ms. Avery Thigpen Harris and Mr. Willie Harris on November 6, 1936. She attended Norfolk Public Schools and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School. Sis. Lena Clark was joined in holy matrimony July 18, 1958 to the late Dea. James C. Clark and to that union was born three children. Early in life, she attended First Baptist Church of Lambert’s Point and Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church both located in the city of Norfolk, Virginia.
Sis. Lena Clark joined the United House of Prayer for All People in 1997 where she remained until her departure. She was a member of the No. 1 Usher Board Auxiliary at the United House of Prayer for All People in Virginia Beach. She enjoyed attending church, cooking for family, entertaining friends at cookouts, planning hearty dinners, fish fries, and talking on the phone to her family and friends. She was the business owner of “Olena Cleaning Service”. Sis. Lena will be missed and we will forever retain a special place in our hearts for her life she shared with all she encountered.
Sis Lena Mae Harris Clark leaves to cherish her precious memories; three sons, Irving Harris (Sylvia), Shelton Clark, Keith Clark (Lenthia); a special daughter, Juanita Elliott (Milton); two brothers, James Harris (Arlene), Frederick Harris; two adopted children, Betsy Neal and John Neal and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends far and near.
