Levi Reynolds, Jr

On Tuesday, January 30, 2018 Levi Reynolds Jr., 81 gently passed from here
to glory after complications from illnesses at Bay Point Rehabilitation
Facility. Levi was born on September 02, 1936 in Scotland Neck, North
Carolina. Levi was the only son of the late Jennie (Nelson) and Levi
Reynolds Sr. He was the younger of two (2) siblings, Geraldine Barnes and
Juanita Sanders both who preceded him in death.
Levi moved with his family to Norfolk when he was only two years old and
has been a proud resident ever since. In 1958, he married his long- time
friend Vernette Reynolds. The two enjoyed gardening, watching movies
and raising their five children. This union yielded them 60 wonderful and
memorable years together.
Levi started his career at Mary Jane Bakery before working for the City of
Norfolk, Redevelopment Housing Authority for over 10 years prior to
retiring in 1988. He was a well-known fixture in his community and could
be found playing dominoes and spades on his front porch. His love for
people extended beyond his family and was best seen in how he showed
concern and in standing up for others. There were not many people who
could walk by his home on Virginia Beach Boulevard without saying hello
to Mr. Levi. He was a member of Gospel Light Outreach Ministries for a
combined 15 years and served as a deacon for the last 3 years.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife Vernette M. Reynolds;
children Annette R. Jones (Thomas) of Norfolk, Va.; Valencia R. Yancey
(Keith) of Chesapeake, Va.; Katrina Dondero of Norfolk, Va.; Bridgette
Reynolds of Norfolk, Va., seven grandchildren Dominique D. Reynolds
(Bonita), Shawna R. Reynolds, Ray M. Jones (Temple), Shanae P. Jones-
Floyd, Tony Dondero, Brittany Y. Boyce and Robert L. Boyce Jr., and over 25
great grandchildren.
