Mamie Burse

Mamie Malbon Burse transitioned into eternal life on Monday, July 3, 2017. She was daughter of the late Elizabeth H. and James Malbon. She was also preceded in death by her sister James Annis Land and brother, John C. Malbon.
Mamie was educated in the Princess Anne County Public Schools, graduating from Princess Anne County Training School in 1959. Mamie attended and received degrees from Elizabeth City State University, Cheney University, and The University of Delaware. She taught in the public schools of Virginia, Delaware, and Washington DC. Mamie was also an administrator in the public schools of Georgia and Washington DC.
Mamie was an active member of the Mount Ephraim Baptist Church in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. She faithfully served in the scholarship and missionary ministries until her health failed.
Mamie is survived by her loving and devoted husband Luther, Sr.; son, Luther Jr.MD(Janella, MD) and daughter Elizabeth Burse Hendricks, JD of Atlanta Georgia; six grandchildren; Luther, III, Veronica, Victoria, Nzinga, Fatima, and Adoniga; two sisters; Velma Wilson and Laurice Yarn, one brother; Harold Malbon, Sr. (Jacqueline), and a sister-in-law; Vivian T. Malbon. She is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
