Obituary

Mary Lois Jones-Wheaton slipped into her eternal rest on December 17, 2018 at the home of her daughter Joyce Benjamin in Virginia Beach, VA. She was born to the late Otha Grice and Rosa Jones on February 22, 1933 in Wilson Mills, NC.

Mary moved to White Plains, NY in 1949 and later moved to Mount Vernon, NY. There she became a member of Greater Centennial AME Zion Church.  She was employed with the Bronxville Schools System in Bronxville, NY for 28 years as a custodian.  After retirement she moved to Virginia Beach, VA in 1996 to be close to her family and her grandchildren. She then joined First Lynnhaven Baptist Church but later moving her membership to Village Church where she was a faithful member until she was unable to attend because of her health. Mary served on the Ushers Ministry and was President of the Calling Ministry and the Courtesy Ministry. Everyone always enjoyed seeing her lovely smile and gracious greetings.

Mary leaves to cherish her memory two children, daughter Joyce Benjamin (TC), Virginia Beach, VA and a son Brian Wheaton (Alicia) Woodstock, GA. Four grandchildren, Raheem Wheaton Clarksville, TN, Karon Benjamin (Diamond) Clarksville, TN, Roderick Benjamin (Shari) Fairburn, GA and DeVonte Wheaton, Woodstock, GA. Also, five great-grandchildren, Tiaja Wheaton, Raynya Wheaton, Jordon Benjamin, Joy Benjamin and Melody Benjamin. Two aunts, Parthina Sanders and Shirley Jones-White, along with her nieces, nephews, and a host of family members and friends.
