Our beloved Mrs. Petrona Demus, 83, born in Port Antonio, Jamaica, was called home Sunday, July 23rd 2017, to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was born to the late Cleopatra McCarthy and William McMorrin on October 19, 1933. She was a devoted wife, mother, (great) grandmother, sister, (great) aunt, cousin and friend.

She resided in the neighborhood Poplar Halls in Norfolk, VA for over 50 years and was a devoted member of the Rock Church in Virginia Beach, VA. Mrs. Petrona married Cornelius Demus Jr. on December 18, 1966 in London, England.

Mrs. Petrona is survived by her sister, Lurline Dunn and two brothers, Roydell McMurry and late Rentford McMorrin. The extended family consists of her daughters, sons, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Her three daughters are; Beverly Rankin, Cherry Mcmorrin-Demus and Cerela Perry, two sons; Cornelius Demus III and Derek Demus, six grandchildren; Jackie Demus, Donte Demus, Quinton Amos, Patrick Young Jr., Terrell Amos, Cerela Harris, seven great grandchildren; Rochelle, Cherelle, Zeus, Shaniya, Jahmere, Josiah, Jeria, Mackenzie, Patrick Young III, great-great grandson; Carter. 

We have all known Mrs. Petrona to be a loving, caring and self-less beautiful woman. She always thought of others and gave advice as she felt the Lord has told her to do so. She was a God fearing woman and wasn’t afraid to let the Lord guide her through life. Her Motherly love was felt through many people that have been in her life. On this day we are celebrating a long lived life and may we keep Mrs. Petrona Demus in our hearts.
