OBITUARY
A Time To Be Born: Romello Jalen Chavious De Paula was affectionately known as Rome/Mello to close family and friends. Romello was born to Alison "AJ" De Paula and Tasha Chavious in Norfolk, VA on 5/2/2004 and was the oldest of four.
A Time To Learn: Romello went to Just For Kids Preschool at the age of four. He then attended the Bayside Tri Campus comprising of Diamond Springs, Newtown, and Bettie F Williams Elementary School. Following elementary school, he attended Bayside 6th Grade Campus and Bayside Middle School for a short period of time. When Rome was unable to attend school, he was taught homebound by Mrs. Cheryl Whitmore.
A Time To Play (Activities/Entertainment): Romello enjoyed video games, card games (Sequence and Phase 10), playing on his phone, music, dancing, and watching movies while cuddling with his loved ones. If not doing those things, you could find him calling for his cat, his baby, Sophia. What Romello enjoyed the most was football. He started playing at a tender age of five with the Mustangs. The day he started was the same day he quit. It wasn't that he didn't like playing football, he just went up against a tough competitor who happened to be a few years older. Though he stopped playing, his love for football continued to grow. Following in his dad's footsteps, Romello grew to love the Jacksonville Jaguars. With love for the Jags... "Duval" he would say, stirred up a rivalry with his Uncle Charon and his beloved Philadelphia Eagles. Nonetheless, a truce was made, in which many noticed because you could often see Romello sleeping with a small Eagles pillow at night.
Since playing football was no longer an option, Romello's dad wanted him to get involved in another sport. Soccer. Romello played two seasons of outdoor soccer with the Cosmos and one season of indoor soccer with Beach FC and was pretty good at it too. He loved soccer and enjoyed playing while wearing his golden cleats.
A Time To Eat: Romello was a very picky eater. Trying to get him to try something new was like pulling teeth. Hot fries, noodles, pizza, lumpia, Wendy's chicken nuggets, hot wings, and his mom's tacos was what he often ate. He also enjoyed steamed crabs and sushi.
A Time To Rest: Romello was called home on June 20, 2018 at his grandmother's house in Virginia Beach, VA surrounded by his loved ones. He courageously fought Neuroblastoma Stage IV cancer for seven years. During his fight he gained the name "Victory". No matter how much pain he'd be in or what may have been going on, Romello would remain positive. He would always have a smile on his face and would not complain about anything. He truly is the definition of "Victorious".
A Time To Heal: Romello leaves behind to cherish his memories his mother, Tasha Chavious; father, Alison "AJ" De Paula; three siblings, Martrez Chavious-Fenner, Arianna De Paula, and Tahj Henderson and his honorary brother/cousin King Chavious; grandmothers, Charlene Chavious "GaGa", Maria Hastings "Vovo", Kelly Dennis, and Kathleen Fenner "Mrs. Pinky"; greatgrandmother Shirley Hopkins "GiGi", Margie Smoak, andMaria eunice souza chaves; grandfathers, Nlton De Paula "Vovo", Ronald Chavious "grandpa", and Maurice Fenner Sr "DaDa"; uncles, Alex De Paula, Charon Chavious, Troy Chavious, Chandler Fenner, and Isaiah Fenner; Aunt Amanda Menezes; God Parents, Wendi Gomez and RC; and a host of family and friends special ones including Sharhonda Mellerson, Maurice Fenner Jr., Antoine Henderson and the Henderson Family.
Imperfectly Perfect
By Tasha Chavious
Don't feel sorry for me
My life is made accordingly
Specifically designed
Imperfectly perfect
And I wouldn't change a thing
Because God created me
He knows my story
From beginning to end
Through every trial and/or tribulation
I will always win
With the Most High by my side
There's no reason to fret nor cry
Seeing me through
Day and night
Will continue to have faith
Will continue to fight
Because I know
He will provide
My imperfectly perfect life
Was made accordingly
