FAMILY BACKGROUND: The late Madam Rose Afia Sarpong was born on 10th September 1959 in Kumasi to Yaw Sarpong, Ashanti Region, and Salome Abena Danquah of Adukrom Akuapem in the Eastern Region. Father blessed memory, and the mother still lives in Kumasi. She was the second born of five children.
Her mother and father divorced at a very tender age, and the age of ten went to live with her father Yaw Sarpong Family in sympathy and love and brought up Maame Afia Sarpong till she married and gave birth to her only child Comfort Adjei also known as Maabena Dansowaa. Her husband moved to the U.S when she was pregnant with their daughter. Years later, she and her daughter Comfort joined her husband in the U.S. In the U. S, things didn’t work out, so she moved back to Ghana, and the daughter stayed behind with her father. Five years ago, she returned to the U.S to help care for her grandchildren.
EDUCATION & OCCUPATION: Maame Afia had little formal education. However, the lessons that formed the foundation of her character were derived from her benevolent (Maame Abena Danquah and the father). Maame Afia was a trader and a cook.
CHILDREN & GRANDCHILDREN: The late Maame Afia was blessed with one child with Nana Kojo Agyemang. Maame Afia was blessed with four grandchildren: Jaazaniah Kofi Nkrumah Adjei, Zepahnia AKwasi Adjei, Amaziah Blessing Kwabena Agyeman Adjei & Genesis Aseda Maafia Pokua Adjei.
