Theodore Albritton, Sr. Obituary

Our hearts were saddened on Saturday, May 25, 2019, when our beloved father and brother departed this life.  Theodore R. Albritton Sr. (Ted) was born December 12, 1946 in Norfolk County, VA. (now Chesapeake, VA).  He was the son of the late Raymond and Rebella Albritton.  He was the eighth child of ten children.  He was predeceased by one infant brother, sister Betty Dawkins, brothers Raymond R. Albritton Jr., Melvin E. Albritton and sister Mary A. Stubbs.

Theodore became a member of the Willow Grove Baptist Church in Chesapeake, VA at an early age and he sang in the Junior Choir.  He enjoyed baking cakes as a teenager, as he learned from our mother.  Theodore was meticulous and dressed sharp, he would even re-press clothing after it had been dry cleaned.  He was a graduate of Crestwood High School in Chesapeake, VA and Norfolk State College (now University) in Norfolk, VA.  He majored in Automotive Technology and he often sat at the kitchen table working on drafting homework.  Theodore served in the United States Army as an Automotive Electrician stationed in Germany.  He also worked as an industrial painter with the Shaw Paint Company and E. Caligari and Son Inc.

Theodore was a father, who leaves to cherish his memory two sons, Theodore R. Albritton Jr. and Theren R. Albritton (Patricia) both of Chesapeake VA; a daughter, Terenda R. Albritton of Chesapeake, VA; two grandchildren, Faran Sawyer and Aaron Sawyer; and one great grandchild, DaMarcus Griswell.  He is survived by three sisters, Carolyn T. Albritton of Arrington, VA, Dorothy N. Jackson of Norfolk, VA, Carolette A. Belcher (Alonzo) of Chesapeake, VA; one brother Maurice B. Albritton (Yvonne) of Chesapeake, VA; one sister-in-law Mary Albritton; a former wife, Brenda A. Paul; and many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
