Wilmer Lee Christian, affectionately called ‘Lightning’ by family and friends, quietly answered the call to be with The Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at 3:43 p.m. Friday, October 6, 2017.

He was born July 1, 1930 the third of what would be five children; He was the last one to be called home.

His parents died at early age, his aunt Gladys and Caleb Bailey reared him and his siblings.

He was a veteran who served in the Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharge in 1960.  After leaving the service armed with his GI bill, he pursued his career and studied carpentry.

Wilmer would go on to become a builder, some of the houses and things he built are still standing today as a testament to how good his work was. In May 28, 1949 he married Mary Frances James, this union produced one son Bernice Christian (Bun).  After separating he moved to New York where he started his own construction company where he would apply his trade.

Wilmer went on to have five other children Brenda, Larry, Veronica, Iona and one deceased daughter Stephanie.  It was during this time he met his long time companion Carol Darisen, and her three children Lillian, Donna, and Donald White.  Which brought him great joy in the later years, until her untimely passing at which time he moved back Virginia to be with his daughter Veronica and other family members.

He leaves to cherish his memories,  Brenda and Robert Bailey, Bernice and Karen Christian, Lawrence and Phyllis James, Veronica and Anthony Handberry, Iona Christian. Step Children's Lillian, Donna, Donald White, and a host of grandchildren, great-grand children, other relatives and friends.
