“There is a time for everything and a season for every activity under heaven: a time to be born and a time to die” Ecclesiastes 3:1
Alice Virginia Bryant entered eternal rest on Tuesday, September 14, 2021, surrounded by her family. She was born on December 21,1950 in Norfolk, Virginia. She is the eldest child of the union of the late Benjamin Sr and Sallie Mae (Bell) Tavers in Norfolk, Virginia.
She received a formal education through the Norfolk Public School System.
During Alice’s occupational career, she held several jobs from domestic worker to caretaker, but no matter what the job entailed, she was very passionate in everything she did.
Alice was a believer in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, and accepted Him as her Lord and Savior. As a young girl, Alice attended St. Paul AME Church in Norfolk, Virginia along with her siblings and parents. Alice was a strong woman of faith and filled with the Holy Spirit. In her later years, she joined the Renewing of the Mind International Ministry under the pastoral leadership of Senior Pastor, Oscar Tavers, Sr. As a member, she was active in the church’s food bank and food service program.
Alice had a vivacious personality - she made friends everywhere she went. She loved to dance; she loved to explore; she loved to laugh. She was a loving, out-going woman that brighten up any room with her loud, infectious laughter. She had a passion for art & crafts; very talented with her hands, and she loved to draw and make pottery.
Alice loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; they were the joy and happiness of her life. Alice was a mother, a provider, counselor, and friend; she was her children’s everything, and she will be truly missed by all. Whether in the church or home, Alice enjoyed cooking and extended her love of food to her church family, family members, friends, and loved ones. And when you were around her, you were guaranteed a hot meal, accompanied with stories and laughter. She truly was a loving and kind spirit.
We, the family, are truly graceful to God for the beautiful and precious life of Alice Virginia Bryant. We know that she was a gift from God, and we rejoice in the blessing, encouragement, and love that she shared with us during her lifetime. We continue to give God all the “Glory” for His child and release her to Him, for we believe we shall see her again.
In addition to her parents, Alice was predeceased by her son, Victor Tavers; her sister, Hortense Kellam; sister-in-law, Patricia Tavers; brother-in-law; Walter Rhodes, and her friend Victor Collins.
