Allen "June" Reed Obituary

“But now, thus says the Lord, who created you, O Jacob, And He who formed you, O Israel. Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; you are mine.” - Isaiah 43:1

Allen Thomas Reed, Jr. was born on August 8, 1952, in Tasley, Virginia to the late Allen Thomas Sr. and Sue Beatrice Fosque Reed. On Monday, May 22, 2023, at 6:45 pm Allen, also affectionately known as “June”, slipped quietly away at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital, Onancock, Virginia surrounded by his family.

Allen was educated in the Accomack County Public School System and was a graduate of the Onancock High School Class of 1972. He later enlisted in the United States Army and served from March 1973 to September 1976. After returning home, Allen began his career as a truck driver and worked for numerous companies.

Allen lived life to the fullest. In his younger years, he was known to hang with the “Nancock Crew” or “Around the Line Boys” and he played baseball with the Savageville Red Socks. His favorite pastime was watching his beloved Las Vegas Raiders and cooking, which was an all-day process to prepare a meal. He was never one to be rushed. His favorite song was “A Heart is a House for Love” and his favorite artist was Frankie Beverly.

Allen adored his children, especially his granddaughter and spending time with family. He spent many years with the love of his life, Mary Ann Bailey, and together they had one daughter.

Allen will be greatly missed by all those who loved him. He leaves to cherish his memory: the love of his life, Mary Ann Bailey, Henderson, NC; two daughters, Tarsha Northam, Chesapeake, VA, Andrea “Bug” Reed, Hampton, VA; one son Andre’ Wilson, Virginia Beach, VA; one granddaughter, Yazmine Northam, Chesapeake, VA; two sisters, Ritha Selby, Raleigh, NC, and Chrisitianna Reed, N. Chesterfield, VA; three brothers, Duane Reed, Virginia Beach, VA, Frank Reed, Raleigh, NC, and Ronald Wharton, Parksley, VA; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
