Alton Floyd Mebane, known to family and friends as “Al”, was born on March 25, 1952 in Windsor, NC late Willie and Hattie Mebane. He departed this life after a long battle on January 30, 2021 at Sentara Leigh Hospital in Norfolk, VA.
During his earthly sojourn he lived a productive life. He attended Bertie County Schools and joined the United States Army, serving two terms as a mechanic with an honorable discharge as a SGT. He was a generous and caring person, always smiling, making jokes, and willing to lend a helping hand. His passion was mechanics. He could take a car apart and put it back together the same day. He was loved by all who knew him.
Al leaves to cherish his memories his daughter, Vanessa Mebane-Walker (Andre); two grandsons, Jay’Linn Walker and Noah Walker of Cameron, NC; a sister, Thelma Bell of Colerain, NC; Hazel Lee of Norfolk, VA, James Mebane (Adele) of Norfolk, VA; an aunt, Eunice Holley of New York, NY; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends. Alton Floyd Mebane will be loved and missed by all.
