Annie Grant Obituary

Annie Merle Grant was born on December 11, 1933 to the late Clarsey Lewis in a small town in Reidsville, Georgia. She later moved to Brooklyn, NY with her family of two siblings and her mother. She attended the NYC public school system schools and graduated from Girls High School. Upon graduation, Annie then went on to Brooklyn College to pursue her Associates Degree. She later married the late Rayfield J. Grant in 1956, and from this union, they had two children, Roseann Grant and Rayfield J. Grant Jr.

Annie worked in the garment district for some years and attended Mass every Sunday. She was an avid television watcher, yet she loved westerns and investigation shows. She took pride in grooming her long mane and adorning it with sporty hats. Her favorite pass time was crocheting, horticulture, cooking, and eating until her heart was content. Family meant everything to Annie, she also took on the role of mothering her nieces and nephews. She had so much love to give, Annie later passed on her great skills to her grandchildren, such as her love for baking, planting, even down to having a secret stash of candy. Annie enjoyed spending time with her family, especially during the holidays where she specialized in making sure that things were going as scheduled, a.k.a making sure the food was ready by time she got there, especially her pies so she could have some before dinner. Annie was such a phenomenal woman, she was feisty, understanding, non-judgmental, but above everything else she loved unconditionally. She lived a quiet life, which is what she chose and she will be greatly missed,

On Thursday, April 7, 2022, Annie departed this earthly life and went on to Glory. Though predeceased in death by her Mother, Clarsey Lewis, Siblings: Janie Ruth and Frank Henry, and her loving son Rayfield J. Grant Jr., she leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter Roseann (Reginald), Grandchildren: Rodney(Sylvia), Tishauna, Wade(Fesui), Jessica, and Rayfield III, Great-Grandchildren: Jessica, Taylor, Shanice, Swilling, Trion, Keannu, Neriah, Markay, and Leilani, and one Great-Great Grandson, D.J., Niece/Nephew: Jeanette and Gregory, Great-Niece: Nichelle “Biscuit”, Great-Great Nephew/Nieces: Kendell, Kadiera, Talena, and Talisha, and Great-Great-Great Nieces/Nephew: Ariyanah, Zaylee, Zayden, and Xanai.
