Ayodele Ama Obituary

In Loving Memory of

Ayodele Marlene Ama

September 11, 1943-February 28, 2026

Ayodele Marlene Ama didn’t just walk into a room; she commanded it with a presence that was as sharp as it was soulful. On February 28, 2026, Ayodele made her transition home, leaving behind a legacy of fierce advocacy, culinary mastery, and a devotion to family that was second to none.

Born to the late Rose and Samuel Simpson, Ayodele was a woman of remarkable discipline and intellect. As a longtime lawyer, she dedicated her career to being a voice for the voiceless, advocating for children in crisis with a tenacity that defined her character. She was famously, “no-nonsense”- a perfectionist who had no patience for procrastination-yet, she was the first person anyone called in a crisis. Whether it was a legal hurdle or a personal heartache, Ayodele was the steady hand and the calm port in every storm.

To her family, she was the keeper of history. A voracious reader and an excellent self-taught cook, she loved nothing more that telling family stories, ensuring that the roots of the Simpson family remained strong. Her home was a place of order and warmth, shared with many beloved cats she cared for throughout her life.

Ayodele was preceded in death by her siblings Samuel, Loretta, Jerry, and Robert. Her memory will be cherished and kept alive by her only child, Fenetia Simpson Wunderlich; her sisters, Emma Simpson and Rosetta Scott; and her adored grandchildren, Amber Wunderlich, Nicholas Weeks, and Ricky Weeks. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews who will forever carry her strength with them.
