Barbara Smith

Barbara Joy Smith a.k.a. BJ, 59 born in Fairmont, WV gained her heavenly wings December 22, 2021. She was born Tuesday, November 6, 1962. She is the first-born daughter of Johnnie Womack and the late Edward R Smith. She was also raised by the late Thomas Womack.

After graduating Fairmont Senior High school, she attended Fairmont State College.  She later moved to NY. She followed her passion and enrolled at Wofford Beauty Academy. She became a licensed cosmetologist 1984. She lived in NY over a decade before relocating to Atlanta Metro area in 1993. Barbara loved to drive. She pursued her CDL license 2005. She relocated to Norfolk, VA 2007. She worked at Hampton Roads Transit (HRT) as an operator for 14 years.

She accepted Jesus as Lord and was baptized at an early age. She enjoyed traveling, helping others, watching tv, spending time with family and friends. She was a kind and giving person.  She valued honesty and being straight forward. She often spoke her mind. She brought joy to others with laughter.

She leaves to cherish her memories: her mother Johnnie Womack, Sisters, Elouise (Donald) Lamar, Deyvonne (David) Moore, two nieces Dierra and Deasia Lamar, Aunt Lucille Sanders, aunts, many cousins and friends.
