Obituary
Bettie Norvella Williams was born on September 10th, 1952, to Lizzie Mae Williams and Curtis Fentress. She was the oldest of four children. She graduated from Maury High School in Norfolk, VA in 1970 and throughout her life she continued her education.
Bettie was the Assistant Director of Oak Crest Nursing Home for several years. After finishing school, she later became a Dental Assistant for a successful dental office in Norfolk, VA in the same building as the Sylvain Center.
Bettie was a true fighter who spoke her mind with no filter, and she took no mess for no one. She loved helping and feeding those in need, even opening her home to many who needed a place to stay. She was called home on October 7th, 2023, "Well done, my good and faithful servant." is all we hope she hears as she enters Heaven's Gates.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Garfield George Jr, her paternal grandparents, James Carrington and wife, her maternal grandparents, Betty Brown Williams and Paul Stewart, her mother, Lizzie Mae Williams, her father, Curtis Fentress, her two brothers: Ronney Williams and Tony Williams, and many family members and friends.
Bettie was survived by her two children, Garfield George III and Trnee'a Williams, step-daughter, Lawanda Carter, five grandchildren, Ey'sence George, Amir George, Kofi Haqq, and Laila George, her brother, Tyrone Williams (Jo), three sisters, Pecola Lane, Yvonne Eure and Regina Johnson, three step-sisters, Gloria Fentress, Dorothy Ridley (Ed) and Theia Fentress, three step-brothers, Roger Fentress (Charlene), James Moore and Steve Fentress and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
