Our beloved one, Beverly Owes Porter, departed this life and journeyed to be with the Lord on Friday, January 6, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Beverly affectionately known as “Belp” was born on November 14, 1955 in Norfolk, Virginia to the late Graham and Gladys Owes. Those of us who loved her are comforted in the fact that she made her profession of faith in the Lord, Jesus Christ, as her personal Savior years ago.
Beverly was educated in the Norfolk Public school systems, graduating from Booker T Washington High School where she was an honor student and a cheerleader. Beverly was a very studious student, we used to tease her when she was studying and we were playing, I guess that’s why she was an honor student and we were not!
Beverly later started her career in the Healthcare Field, working for companies such as, Optima Health, Amerigroup and lastly Inova Health where she retired from recently, she was a very hard worker, a great research person, if no one could figure it out they would always come to her because of her dedication and commitment to the job.
Beverly loved the Lord, but she also loved Bingo and going to the casino every once in a while, she would be winning all the time, it seems that everything she touched would turn to gold, she was such a generous person, when she won you won as well, that’s just how she was..
Her memory will linger and be cherished in the hearts of her husband of 17 years, Stewart Porter; her son: Natanyahu Yashaala ( Sahrah), her four grandchildren; Adoniyahu, Shalomiyah, Amaziyah and Shemayah, as well as four siblings; Winston Owes; Katherine Watson ( whom she called her next of kin), Kaye Owes-Pittman and Doris Owes ( whom she affectionately called Baby girl) and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Beverly was pre-ceded in death by her both of her parents and 2 of her siblings; Evangeline Edmonds and Alvin Owes.
We are comforted by the fact that our Beverly was a true survivor whose ever positive attitude, despite her illness and setbacks, remained determined and miraculously steadfast to overcome her many physical challenges. We remain inspired by her strength and love for her family; she will be greatly missed.
