Our beloved Bobby James “BJ” Phillips, 41, transitioned to be present with The Lord on Sunday, January 1, 2023. Bobby was born on August 14, 1981, in Virginia Beach, Virginia to Mr. and Mrs. Michael and Salvacion Phillips. He was the fourth of five children.
At a very young age, Bobby learned how to fish with his dad and took a liking to it, so much so that he continued fishing throughout the rest of his life with family and friends. He loved the water, being out in the water, fishing on a boat. Bobby was a dog lover. He had a soft spot for dogs. He even had his own special dog language. Bobby also had a great eye for home improvements and helped many people with his skills. He was especially skilled as a roofer. He was funny, kindhearted, loving, generous, and had a considerate soul. He was especially fearless when it came to protecting his family. He absolutely loved and cherished time spent with family and friends.
His memory lives on and is survived by his ex-wife, Monisha Davis; daughter, Christina Davis; stepson, Marcus Davis; son, Jeremiah Phillips; grandson, Cassius Davis; mother, Salvacion Phillips; father and stepmother, Michael Phillips and Chong Whyte; sister, Norma Janssen; brother, Kenneth Folk, Jr; sister and brother-in-law, Mae Bernal and Billy Bernal; sister, Amy Coburn; nieces, Crystal Segura, Jasmine Austin, Alyssa Bernal, Destinie Phillips, Denaysia Coburn; nephew, Denzel Coburn; grandniece, Carmen Meeks; and grandnephew, Brian Thrash, III.
His maternal grandparents, Pablita and Teofilo Segura, and paternal grandparents, Barbara and Elmer Phillips, preceded Bobby and will now help welcome him home.
