Cecil Steven Wallace Obituary

“The true measure of a man is how well he provides for his children.” – Sidney Poitier

Cecil Steven Wallace, age 68, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 2, 2024, at Levine & Dickson Hospice House at Aldersgate.

He was born on Aug 16th, 1956, at Harlem Hospital in Manhattan, NY to Florence Anthony and Howard Wallace. Cecil or "Mr. Cee" as he preferred many to call him attended NYC public Schools until 1972 to Join the Workforce doing several odd jobs. He was an adaptive learner and considered a "Jack of All Trades". He eventually landed a Job at Nassau County Medical Center in the late seventies where he met the love of his life Annie Lucille Brock, married, and started a family. He was medically retired in 1988.

Not being one to be still, his focus was on being a provider, raising his family, being a great advisor and support system to those who needed or called on him. Cecil loved listening to music, watching sports, building things, fixing cars, grilling, being in the kitchen, traveling & continuously learning new skills. He never let his physical disability or being in a wheelchair keep him confined to one place. The most important lesson learned from Cecil was that he never let anything stop him from Living. He would often tell people “DON’T LET THIS CHAIR FOOL YOU.” He was affectionately called "Pop-Pop" by his grandchildren, which he proudly claimed. His Independent, Energetic, and Strong spirit, all traits he instilled in his children, was an inspiration to all who met him. His wonderful sense of humor will surely be missed by all those who knew him.

Three daughters survive Cecil: Nicole A Wallace (Charlotte, NC), Natalie A Wallace (West Palm Beach, FL) and Stephanie L Wallace (Manassas, VA). Five grandchildren, Christian, Ailani , Kaamilah, Sha-Mir, and Aminah; His Mother Florence Wallace (Hoover, AL),  three sisters, Yvette Jackson (Leroy, Hoover, AL), Donna Williams ( Long Island City , NY), Florence Wallace Jr. (Brooklyn, NY) two Brothers, Michael Wallace (Stella, Queens, NY) and Howard Wallace Jr (Auburn, NY), Family Friend Conroy Parchment (The Parchment Family, Charlotte, NC) and an immense number of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and lifetime friends.

Cecil is predeceased in death by his wife Annie “Lucy” Wallace, Father Howard Wallace, Brother Carl Williams, Father Figure Vernon Smalley & Parents In-Law William & Ethel Payton.

Thank You to the Staff at Levine & Dickson Hospice House at Aldersgate & VIA Health Partners for the Care, Dignity & Respect given to Mr. Wallace.

"Grief Never Ends, but it changes. It is a passage, not a place to stay. Grief is not a sign of weakness, nor a lack of faith, it is the price of love"- Unknown.
