Charles Gray Obituary

Charles Arthur Gray III, son of Geneva Simpkins Gray and Charles A. Q. Gray II was born in Nuremberg, Germany on August 5th, 1964.  While Charles Senior and Geneva Gray were stationed in Germany at an Army base there.

Charles was a determined and assertive child who often competed directly with his younger brother who was only 16 months younger than him when they were both children. Because his father was in the Army, Charles and his family moved around from Army base to Army base in the late 1960’s and throughout the late 1970’s.  After Germany he lived at Ft. Knox KY, Ft. Eustice, VA, and Ft. Belvoir, VA.  In 1978 Charles and his family moved to Midland, MI where Charles would graduate from High School in 1982 and then attend Eastern Michigan University.  Shortly after that Charles moved with his mother to Norfolk, VA and attended Old Dominion University and Norfolk State University. He ultimately graduated from Norfolk State University.

Charles began his professional career in Computer Technical Support. He then became the father to two daughters and used his time and resources to make sure they were cared for.  He was a great father to Nadia and Ivy. He took them fishing, swimming, to sporting events and ultimately just hung out with them both all through their childhood.

When Charles was not busy working or being a father, he enjoyed travel and often came along with his brother mother and father for some world traveling adventures. He enjoyed the Caribbean with his father and brother and, France, Italy, and Spain. With his brother, brother’s wife, and his mother.

Unexpectedly Charles was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer in December 2020 .He fought hard and stayed as positive about the diagnosis, but on May 17 he succumbed to the terrible disease. His mother, brother and brother’s wife were at his side when he exited this world for heaven. He will be greatly missed by his father, mother, brother and all who he met throughout his life.  His legacy will go on as positive motivated individual whose potential was cut short too early.

Charles is survived by his loving mother Geneva Gray, His father, Charles Gray, his brother Michael Gray his sister Dena Banks and his two daughters, Nadia Ramesar and Ivy Gray.
