Clara Rouse

Clara Matthews Rouse, (76), On Saturday, May 11th, 2024, the Lord called for Our Dear Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Auntie, and Friend. Clara was born on March 10th, 1948, to the late Clifton and Gertrude Matthews. She loved her family – especially her grandchildren! She was a devoted wife, mother, and friend. She enjoyed watching her shows: Law & Order, NCIS, and oh-boy did she love Westerns! She was also a die-hard Washington Commanders fan. Clara retired from the Colonial Tire Company in Norfolk, Virginia. She was loved by many, and she will be truly missed by all who knew her.

Clara was preceded in death by her husband, David Rouse; her parents, Clifton and Gertrude Matthews; and two of her brothers, William Matthews and Larry Matthews.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Valerie Bailey; son, Mark Matthews; sister, Vicki Matthews; and brothers, Allen Davis, Clifton Matthews and Terry Matthews. She has four grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and other loving family members and friends.
