According to the divine plan of our Heavenly Father, on Monday May 31, 2021, Curtis Lee Spruill Sr., transitioned through the door that leads to eternal peace and love. He was kind and compassionate; a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and a friend to all. “Curt” affectionately known to many genuinely loved everyone and always displayed a welcoming smile.
Curtis was born in Norfolk, Virginia on October 9, 1956 to the late William and Mildred Spruill. He was educated through Norfolk Public Schools and later received degrees from Big Ben Community College (Europe) and Central Texas College where he earned an Associate of Applied Science degree in Criminal Justice. Curtis retired from the United States Army in 1995 as a Staff and Drill Sergeant with special honors to include an Army Achievement Medal Award and the Army Commendation Medal. After retiring from the Army, he went on to work and retired as a welder from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard. Curtis was a leader and a true inspiration to others. He was always full of words of encouragement, had a heart of gold and would help anyone.
Curtis was preceded in death by three Sisters, Virginia Spruill, Ruth Spruill and Diane Spruill and Brother, Larry Spruill.
Curtis leaves to cherish his memories, Wife, Annette Spruill of Chesapeake, Virginia; Son, Curtis L. Spruill, Jr.; Daughters, Shakeda Spruill of Chesapeake, Virginia; Sakoya Spruill of Chesapeake, Virginia; three Sisters, Carolyn Spruill of Norfolk, Virginia; Sheila Spruill of Hampton, Virginia, and Mary Boone Jenkins (Melvin); three Brothers, William Spruill, Jr.(Diane) of NC, William Earl Spruill (Florence)of Texas and Shelton Spruill of Norfolk, Va., and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
