Dale B. Shampine passed away on October 10, 2021; he was 91 years old. Dale retired from the military after serving in the Army, then Navy for 22 years. He worked for the Federal Government for 23 years. After retiring in 1994 he and Vicky did volunteer work with the American Red Cross. He was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association branch 60 in Norfolk and for decades was an usher at Our Lady of Victory chapel at the Norfolk Naval Station.
Dale was predeceased by his wife Vicky of 55 years, a son Steven and son-in-law Michael O'Brien. He leaves behind two daughters, Elaine and husband Richard Boomhower of New Hampshire and Sharon O'Brien of Virginia Beach who lovingly cared for him in the last months of his life; grandchildren Michelle and husband Daniel Joubert of Massachusetts, grandsons Frank Boudreau of Colorado, Thomas O'Brien and wife Josslyn of Virginia Beach and Connor O'Brien of Virginia Beach; four great-grandchildren, Lindsay and Shawn Joubert and Olivia and Malea Boudreau.
The family would like to acknowledge all the great neighbors in the circle on Rodman Road who, for decades, called dad a friend.
Dale was a sweet and gentle man who will be greatly missed. Rest in Peace Dad! Funeral services will be private.
