Damonte Tekoa Prater was born on December 30,1993 at Portsmouth Naval Hospital. He was a very respectful, polite, and kind spirited gentleman.
He accepted his Lord and Savior at an early age at the Greater Piney Grove Baptist Church, Atlanta, GA and later attended The Village Church, Virginia Beach, VA
Damonte completed his education at Renaissance Academy and Landstown High School in Virginia Beach prior to joining the United States Navy in 2013. His duty stations were completed at the Major Joseph R. “Beau” Biden III National Guard / Reserve Center, New Castle, Delaware and Coastal RIVGRU One, North Island, California. Throughout his Navy career, his proudest moments were serving on the honor guard and meeting the now – President Joseph Biden. Damonte enjoyed his time stationed in California because of the beaches.
He was currently employed with Strategic Data Systems, MyHr Center at the Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek
Damonte was affectionally known as “D-Man” and “Uncle D”. He loved and enjoyed playing with his nephews who adored him and is going to miss him dearly.
Damonte will forever be cherished by his Mother Selena (Forrest “Butch”) Thornton-Manuel, Father Dexter (Tiphani) Prater, Grandparents Deacon Marion (Eddie Mae) Thornton, Charles Prater and Offree L. Nyansia. Adored Sisters: His twin Shamonte Prater, Serena Prater and Micayla Burton. Stepbrother Xavier Arnold. Auntie Serena Thornton and Uncle Henry Thornton, Nephews Jaylen, Mason, Ian, Christian, and Tristan. Special Friends Travis, Sterling and Raymond and his beloved dog Cozy. Damonte loved and is loved by abundance of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends
