Deborah Douglas “Debbie” born Deborah Dennis, was born on March 11,1951 to the late Claude A Dennis and Gladys I Brooks (Turner-Dennis) in Washington DC. She was the youngest of her two siblings and was educated in the DC Public School System. After completing her high school diploma, she would go on to study nursing, following the path of her mother. She worked in various roles in the nursing field, including in-home health care for much of her employment years.
She was introduced to and accepted Jesus Christ at an early age in her life. In 1965, She met William Cave. From this relationship, she gave birth to Lawan N. Dennis and James Armstead. Sometime later, she entered in a relationship with Willie Young-Freeman, and from this relationship, she gave birth to Keith D. Freeman. She would eventually meet and married her love, Henry Douglas. From this union, she gave birth to Devora A Douglas.
After so many years in Washington DC area, she relocated to the Chesapeake VA and Norfolk VA area, where she resided the remainder of her life. Debbie was the life of the party and always loved to joke, fuss and cut up but it was all for fun. Even though she joked, laughed, and fussed, she was a caring and loving person especially when it comes to her family. She would cry at a drop of a hat, but she lived hard and loved even harder.
Deborah Douglas (Dennis) is preceded in death by her parents, Claude A. Dennis and Gladys I Brooks (Turner-Dennis); spouse, Henry Douglas; and son, James Armstead.
She is survived by her sisters; Barbara J. Jeffrey and Patricia L. Dennis; children, Lawan N. Dennis, Keith D. Freeman (Jeannette), and Devora Douglas. Her grandchildren; Shaunese R. Dennis, James. D. Freeman, Alexis B. Freeman and Londyn Hailey. She is also survived by nieces, a nephew, cousins and friends. While Debbie is gone from this life physically, her spirit of love, laughter, life and the many stories will continue to live on.
