Decarlo McClary Obituary

DeCarlo LaShawn McClary, affectionately known to family and friends as Carlo, was born in the city of Brotherly Love, Philadelphia, PA, to Randolph and the late Rosemary McClary on March 15, 1974. He was called to rest on April 14, 2022.

DeCarlo was the oldest of three boys and spent his early youth in Philadelphia before relocating with his family to the Norfolk/Virginia Beach area. As the oldest child, he took on the responsibility of caring for and protecting his younger brothers.

DeCarlo was educated in the Virginia Beach public school and graduated from Green Run High School. Upon graduation, DeCarlo held several positions in his professional career. He was initially employed with the Norfolk Navy Exchange before moving on to spend 10 years with Beach Ford Car Dealership. DeCarlo used the experience and expertise he gained at Beach Ford to accept a supervisory position with Dodge Southern Car Dealership. He was a dedicated and conscientious worker. He was so proud of his work ethic that he often posted stories about his extensive accomplishments. DeCarlo had to retire early due to health concerns.

DeCarlo was a fun, loving and extremely caring person who many times put the need of others before his own. He was always willing to share anything he had even if it was only a warm smile or encouraging words. Spending time with his children was one of his many joys. DeCarlo was a loving, devoted father and was very proud of his children. In his spare time, he enjoyed go-cart racing, bowling, and he was definitely an avid gamer. He was a sports fanatic and enjoyed being entertained by all of the Philadelphia sports teams. If there was a game on, he was in front of a TV.

DeCarlo is preceded in death by his mother, Rosemary McClary, and his brother, Dayon McClary. Celebrating his life and carrying on his legacy are his children, Marquel, Chanel, and Destiny; his loving father, Randolph McClary; his brother, Marcus McClary; his nieces Aryelle and Aaliyah McClary; his nephews, Israyel Dayon McClary, Jordan Royse, Marcus McClary, Jr., and Kingston McClary; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
