Diane Fields was born in Norfolk, VA April 16, 1951 to Earl Lee Fields and Lee Ella Fields Chatman both who proceeded her in death. Diane accepted Christ at an early age joining Jerusalem Baptist Church. She was a prayer warrior and a devoted Christian who throughout her illness constantly professed her love of God.

Her artistic talent was made visible through her arts and crafts which included knitting (hats, scarfs, blankets) changing old jeans into purses, constructing NFL Pillows , portrait paintings and landscape paintings. Diane used her artistic talent to create a picture on the pulpit at a church on Granby St. near the city park and participated in the painting of a mural in downtown Norfolk.

She was employed in several capacities by the City of Norfolk in Parks and Recreation, at Nautica, as a parking attendant and a substitute teacher. She also worked in the Upward Bound Educational Summer Program.

Diane had two great loves seafood and the Dallas Cowboys. She enjoyed crabs and crab parties with family and friends. Her crab cakes were the best and much desired during family events. Diane showed her team spirit by dressing in team gear of the Dallas Cowboys from head to toe.
