Direal Antwine Smith, beloved son of Hillery and the late Dena Smith, was born at Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, Virginia on March 31st, 1989. He later resided in Accomac County, Va and in Portsmouth, Va. He attended Western Branch High School, where he built long lasting friendships and memories.
At a young age, Direal accepted the Lord as his Savior at Macedonia AME Church, where he also sang in the choir. His faith remained a guiding force throughout his life.
Direal was known for his joyful spirit and love for life. He enjoyed spending time joking and laughing with his family and friends, cooking meals that brought everyone together, and playing basketball. He was also a devoted fan of the Philadelphia Eagles, proudly supporting his team through every season.
Above all, Direal lived by the value of “family first.” He was a supportive, protective, and present father who deeply loved his children, Bre’Onna, Dariana, & Damien, who meant everything to him.
He leaves behind his father Hillery; grandmothers Alphine and Mae Helen; sisters, Jasmine and Jessica; high school sweetheart Brooke, and their three children Bre’Onna, Dariana, & Damien; four nephews Jaquill, Darian, Mekhi, and Terrell Jr.; Two nieces Kaleah and Khari; five aunts Angie(Buddy), Gretta, Nicole(Travis), Princess(Julius), and Sierra; three uncles, Kerwin, Kelvin(Kathy), and Howard, Jr. As well as host of cousins, relatives, and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
