Dwight Johnson Obituary

Dwight Ricardo Johnson, affectionately known to some as Ricky, was born on October 28, 1952 in Norfolk, Virginia.  Dwight was the third son of Arthur Thomas and Marion Ruth Johnson.  He swiftly entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, May 17, 2023.

Dwight was educated in Norfolk Public Schools, graduating from Maury High School and Norfolk State University with honors.  His professional life was devoted to working with special needs children at the Harbor Point Health Center as a program manager until he retired.  He always encouraged everyone to work with a high sense of integrity and high level of professionalism.

Dwight was a member of the Basilica of Saint Mary’s of the Immaculate Conception from an early age.  He was a member of the Bachelor Benedict Social Club, Inc., where he served on several positions, including recording secretary.

In his leisure time, he enjoyed reading, gardening, exploring nature, visiting his wife’s hometown to attend special events and church services, watching television which includes the history and science channels and sporting events.  He also enjoyed interacting with friends and being around his family.  He will be remembered for his kind nature and encouragement, and sense of humor during a conversation.  He was very humble, soft spoken, and low key and always willing to lend a helping hand and be a mentor.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted and loving wife of forty-three years, Mable Gregory Johnson, a son Gregory Ricardo Johnson, as well as his brothers, Arthur Graige Johnson (Eva Champion) and Michael Johnson (Phillis), sister Michelle Logan (Sammie), several nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and a host of wonderful friends.
