Ms. Ebony Lynn Granby of Virginia Beach transitioned peacefully on Monday, July 31st. Ebony was born on January 20th, 1978 in Virginia Beach, Virginia to her late father, John Edward Granby Sr. and mother, Bettye Fleming Granby. She has three siblings; Marcia Antionette Granby-Sprankle of Greensboro, MD, John Edward Granby Jr. (Cynthia) of Alpharetta, GA, and Angie Catrice Granby-White of Virginia Beach, VA. Ebony also leaves to cherish two nieces, two nephews, two niece in-laws, a great nephew and great niece. Ebony was an educator for Virginia Beach City Public Schools for over 19 years. She taught mathematics at Kempsville High School for three years and served as the Guidance Department Chairperson and School Counselor for 16 years at Corporate Landing Middle School. She had a servant’s heart who loved to serve her family, friends, colleagues and students. Ebony loved her family and was extremely protective. Once you bonded with Ebony, you were in her circle for life. She was truly a sincere, special, kind and gentle person who will be missed tremendously by her family, a host of friends and colleagues. A Celebration of Ebony’s Life will be held on Monday, August 7th at 11:00 AM at First Lynnhaven Baptist Church, 2744 Robert Jackson Drive 23452. The interment will take place on Tuesday, August 8th at 10:00 AM at the Beaver Hill Cemetery, 420 Dr. Martin Luther King Avenue, Edenton, NC 27932.
