Edna Mae Ware, was born November 8, 1938 in Gainesville, Ga to Boots and Naomi Ware. She was called home on January 1, 2023, but only after living a fulfilled and blessed life. Edna was an educator, entrepreneur, businesswoman (having owned The Jazz Showcase and Hollywood Hairstyles), organizer, fantastic cook, and loved giving and having parties.
She received her Bachelor’s degree from Virginia State College and her Master’s degree from Norfolk State University. Edna took great pride in working as a teacher for over 30 years as a Title 1 Math specialist. She was hired September 1, 1964 and retired October 1, 1997 from Norfolk Public Schools. She was involved in many organizations such as Education Association of Norfolk (EAN), The Virginia Education Association (VEA), The National Education Association (NEA), and The Association of Classroom Teachers. She attended local, state, and national conferences, conventions, and workshops all around the country. She served on the local Board of Directors for many years.
People were in and out of her home until they got on their feet, so much, that we all call her home “The Do Drop-in”. She took time to enjoy life by traveling around the world and giving love to just about anyone who crossed her path.
She was preceded in death by both parents, Willie L Parker (husband), and Renard Hines (son).
She leaves to cherish her memories, her daughter, Deborah Roscoe, Justin Parker (stepson), her siblings Hershal Wells, Gerald and Bernice Ware, Brenda Mize, Michael Ware (Janet Ware). Her grandchildren: Ronice Haynes, Kiasia, Maleah, and Jelani Parker, and Yohaunce Avant. Cousins, but more like sisters, Carolyn and Selena, Alethea Baldwin (daughter in law), as well as a host of other friends and family.
She was truly a “DIVA” and will truly be missed by all!
