On March 12,2021, God sent his angel to take from our mist our mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend, Ethel Burfort.
Ethel was born November 9, 1925 in Princess Anne County, VA to the late Norman E and Beatrice J Goodman. She was married in 1952 to the late Johnny Burfort.
Ethel had very little formal education, but she learned very early about our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Her father was a renown Deacon at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. He made sure all of his children learned about the lord at an early age. This spiritual beginning remained with Ethel throughout her life.
Ethel was a devoted wife and mother. Her children were the center of her life. There was nothing she would not do for them. She was a very loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend. She loved visiting the sick in the neighborhood and praying for anyone who needed it. When God said make a Joyful noise unto the Lord, she took it very seriously. Ethel would sing his praises, testify of his goodness and lift a prayer up to God anytime and anywhere.
Ethel joined Pleasant Grove Baptist Church at an early age. She joined the missionary ministry at Pleasant Grove and remained faithful until her health failed.
Ethel was predeceased by her husband Johnny; three children, Richard, Leon, and David Burfort; five sisters, Mary Goodman, Earnestine Medley, Viola Jones, Dorothy Sanderson, and Rosa Russell; two brothers John Goodman and Norman E Goodman Jr. She leaves to cherish two daughters Shirley Davis (Lonnie), Lucille Burfort; Four sons Johnny Jr, Melton (Sylvia), Leroy and Alphonso Burfort. One sister, Beulah Wilson; one brother Jessie Goodman (Gustella); eight grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren, and seven great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
