Ethel Turner Obituary


Ethel Marie Turner of Tasley, VA was born on February 25, 1931 to the late Fletcher "Big Apple" Turner and Sarah Boggs Turner of Tasley, VA.

God called her home on May 18, 2020 at Riverside Shore Memorial following a brief illness. She received her education in Daughtery and was an employee with Lewis Groceries as a butcher for over 40 years before working for Accomack County Schools for over 30 years. She was known for "Miss Turner-Bus 37". Ethel was affectionately called "Ef  and plugg by her daughter. She was also affectionately called- Nanna Banana , Effeta, Ettal, and Nannie. 
Ethel accepted Christ as her Lord in Savior in her latter years and used to tell her daughter, " The Lord did not bring you this far to leave you." She was known for her wisdom, giving heart, protecting her  grandchildren, cooking her turnip greens, and her macaroni and cheese. Everyone knew how much she loved her dog, Roxie. "Ef" and Norma Lee were always seen together riding together like Thelma and Louise and she will be greatly missed. 
She was preceded in death by her nephews: Roland Drummond, James Turner, Rodney Turner, and hersisters, Margaret "Sis" Drummond and Etta Bagwell. 
Ethel will be missed by many. She has left a legacy of love, wisdom, knowledge, and an abundance of laughter. Left to cherish fond memories are her daughter: Norma Lee (Purnell), three grandchildren, Tammy (Anthony), Nikki (Shultz), and Bre'zaun "Pooh", eight great grandchildren: Divontriq "Boote", Tanaka "Squirt", Benaz, J'sha, Jamari, Ayana, Rennaisia, Sanai, and three great-great grandchildren: Ki'Miyah, Alayah, and Kyrie, One nephew: Fabian Drummond (Sheila), one niece Rochelle Gant, and an abundance of other great nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Ethel also leaves special friends and family: Frank Savage, Betty Reid, Richard Belote, Brooks Parks, Barber Lee who was like her daughter, and special cousins: Virginia Nock and Catherine Northam.
