On Sunday, June 29, 2025, Florine W. Rogers was called home to be wit the Lord. She was born October 22, 1932 to the late Carrie Woodberry and Abner Willis.
Florine was educated in the Marion County Public School system and worked in the environmental services field. She accepted Christ at an early age becoming a member of New Calvary Baptist Church and was faithful in the ministries that she was called to be a part of. She loved her church family very much. Florine knew the importance of putting GOD first, the power of prayer, how to get along with others, and the value of respect for all people. Most of all, she would not let anything or anyone steal her peace and joy. The world did not give it to her, and the world could not take it from her.
Florine was united in marriage to John Rogers and from this union there were seven children, three of which preceded her in death; Augustus, Michael, and Nannete; as well as her husband, John.
She leaves to cherish her memory four sons; Dennis, Johnny, Sheldon, and Lorenzo, all of Norfolk, VA; her sisters, Alberta Morris of Delray Beach, FL, Lulu Williams and Valdosta Williams of Marion, SC; brothers, William Willis of Sicklerville, NJ and Wesley Williams of Marion, SC; a special daughter in-law, Karen Annette Rogers; seven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; eleven great-great grandchildren; long time friends, Ms. Louise McKinney and Karen Woodberry; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
Special thanks to the residences of Grace Place and Dr. Lea Laplace, and the staff of Norfolk Health and Rehab Center.
