Fred Clary

Fred E. Clary Sr. (Bo Diddley) peacefully departed his life on February 4, 2023, at the age of 91.  He was born on May 15, 1931, in Ivor, VA, to Edward Clary and Miranda Evans.

Fred joined the army as a young man. When he left the army, he became a longshoreman and worked in a dock gang as a driver. He retired from the ILA Local 1248 after 30 years of dedicated waterfront service. Fred was a faithful member of Bethany Baptist Church, serving on the trustee board for over 25 years.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Elouise J. Clary.

He leaves behind two loving daughters, Tina Joynes and Elsie Thomas (Alvin), and two sons, Fred E. Clary Jr., and Allen Joynes.

He also leaves behind his loving and devoted grandson, DePaul Griffin Jr., along with a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, friends, and church family who will miss him dearly.
