Gloria Tucker Obituary

Mrs. Gloria Thompson Tucker was called home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 17, 2020. She was   born in Norfolk Virginia to the late Lewis A. Thompson and Lula Corbett Fennell Thompson.  Gloria was also preceded in death by her brothers James Fennell  and  Thomas  Fennell.

Gloria graduated High School in 1969 and completed studies  to become a surgical technician.  Her career spanned over 25 years; She worked in operating rooms at Norfolk General, Norfolk Community and DePaul Hospital.

Gloria was a longtime member of  St. Mark RZUA Church.  She  loved her church and  served on the Bonner Usher Board.  In later years, she got saved and would attend church as much as her health would allow.  Gloria had a personal ministry of caring for people who are often  overlooked or forgotten. She   routinely took them for tests, doctor visits,  errands, etc.  She would even take people into her home to care for them.  Gloria was a devoted  friend.

Gloria, Bunkie as she was called by her siblings, was a home maker.  Her greatest joys were caring for her husband , sons, and grandchildren.  She  loved baking cakes, cobblers and rolls for every family occasion.  We  depended on  her counsel.  Bunkie was Marcus Welby MD and Betty Crocker all rolled into one.

Gloria leaves to cherish her memory, her beloved husband, of 40 years, Alvin J. Tucker, 5 sons, Joseph Tucker and Brian Montgomery of Chesapeake,  Vaughan  Ames ( Deneen) and Myron Ames of Brandon FL and  bonus son, Tyrone Thompson of Temple Hills, MD, 9 Grandchildren, Nakalaya and Brian Montgomery, Sadari and Sanai Ames,  Chiaya Deloatch, Aydin Tucker, Lamyra, Myron and Kyron Ames, and bonus grand Child, Zah’nayah Glover.
