Harris Freeman Sr. 89 of the 400 block of Appaloosa Trail, Chesapeake, Virginia passed away on Sunday, May 30, 2021 at the Kempsville Rehabilitation Center in Virginia Beach. Harris was the son of the late Willie and Rosa Freeman. He was born August 9, 1931 in Princess Anne County now known as Virginia Beach. Harris was married to Helen L. Ashby Freeman and this union produced 8 children. He retired in 1986 from the Norfolk Naval Supply Center where he worked as a Bridge Crane Operator for 35 years. After his retirement from the government he worked security at the Chrysler Museum for 10 years. Harris was a member of First Baptist Church West Munden under the leadership of Pastor Rosalind Hairston. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Rosalyn Freeman and grandson, Michael S. Chambers II. He is survived by: his wife, Helen L. Freeman of Virginia Beach, his daughters, Rosetta Floyd (Lewis), Shirley Freeman, Dorothy Chambers (Michael) of Chesapeake, and Phyllis McCoy (Phillip) of Virginia Beach. He is also survived by his sons, Harris Freeman Jr., Gary Freeman and Eric Freeman (Laura) and daughter- in-law Robin Freeman of Virginia Beach. Harris was blessed with 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
