Hattie Bartley Obituary

Hattie Bartley was born on September 25, 1946 in McComb, Mississippi to John Butler and Etta Mae Butler. Hattie was the oldest of seven siblings John Butler Jr. Wilbert Butler, Arlee Butler, Elnora Butler, Elijah Butler, Charles Butler, and Eddie Butler. She had five children Rayfus Butler Patricia Butler, Paulette Butler, Pauline Butler and Raymond Butler. Hattie also help raised her grandchildren Bruce Foster, Shanice Butler, and Sheleia Clark. She believed in putting family first and was a selfless person. Hattie was a determine woman at eighteen years old she moved to New York City by herself for more opportunities because there was so little in the south. She worked as a maid doing domestic work for affluent people in downtown Manhattan and Brooklyn. Hattie retired from the NYPD as a clerk, and she was a registered nurse. Hattie loved flowers and loved gardening. Hattie love music, love to dance, and love to laugh. She was Christian and loved gospel singer Mahalia Jackson.

On February 15, 2021 Hattie was called home. She is survived by her children Rayfus Butler Sr., Patricia Butler. Hattie leaves to cherish her memories by her grandchildren Rayfus Butler Jr, Michael Payne, Jermaine Butler, Bruce Foster, Shanice Butler,Sharay Clark, Greg Clark, Shaboka Payne, Jamilla Payne, Sheleia Clark  and host of great-grandchildren, friends and family. May the times she spent and the memories she made live forever in our hearts. We Love You
