She was born in Dunn, North Carolina on October 19, 1936, to the late Huey and Sophronia Smith (Toon).

Helen attended Harnett High school in Dunn, NC, she was a star basketball player.  After she graduated, she and husband John Warren, relocated to Newark, New Jersey, out of their union together they had 5 Children.  She attended and graduated from Essex County College in Newark, NJ receiving a degree in Nursing.

She loved traveling with her husband Hilton, they visited numerous countries.  She loved spending time at the beach, and in her past time she loved thrift shopping and attending yards sales.  But, most of all she was a devoted mother, wife and loved her children and family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Hilton Patterson and late husband John Warren; her beloved son Johnny Antonio Warren, Grandson Antione Warren, Granddaughter, Reshaunda Gerald and Sister Maxine Smith.

She leaves in the care of God her 5 children, Calvin Wayne Warren, Fannie Michelle Warren (Izeaner), Renselear Warren “Bud”  (Deborah), Cynthia Warren, Denise Smith (niece) and sister Ms. Shirley McNeill (Brooklyn, New York). 14 Grandchildren and 20 Great Grands, 10 Great-Great Grands and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family would like to give special thanks to her caregivers who were by her side during the days and nights she needed you the most.  Your kindness and love will never be forgotten:  Imani Ward(Moni), Joshua Warren (grandson), Fannie Warren (daughter), Destiny Warren (grand-daughter), Wanda Dew (step-daughter), William Patterson (step-son), and Ms. Faye (caregiver).

To her friends/neighbors Mr. Hoppie and Tina, who always kept a watchful eye out for her and brought flowers and continuous prayers, also her long-time best friend Ms. Annette Bryant, she truly cherished all the good times they had together and those daily talks.

Dear Mom, although you have gained your wings and left this earthly world, your memory will be forever in our hearts. Your love as a mother, daughter, sister, aunt, friend and wife will always be remembered.  We know that you are now resting in God’s hands, so rest well until we meet again.

Love your Children
