Obituary
Henrietta Mae Samuel Kelley, daughter of the late Mervin and Olivia Allen, born in Hartsville, South Carolina entered into eternal peaceful rest at the age of 83 at her family residence on Saturday, August 6, 2022.
“Rhett” as she was affectionately known, received her education within Norfolk Public Schools. As a military wife stationed in Puerto Rico, she began her career with the Navy Exchange in July, 1970 as a Branch Exchange Manger. She remained with the Norfolk NEX for twenty-four more years until her retirement in June 1995, as a Sales Supervisor. Upon retirement, she became an active member of the Naval Exchange Retired Employees Association.
Henrietta was a faithful and dedicated member of Angelic Church of God In Christ of Norfolk, VA. She enjoyed attending bible study, teaching Sunday school, and fellowshipping with her church family. She also enjoyed serving on the Mothers Board. Henrietta was a dedicated mother and grandmother to her own family. She was an avid sports lover, with most joy stemming from football as a Dallas Cowboy fan. She enjoyed traveling, music, dancing; but most of all being with her children and family.
Henrietta loved her family deeply and was preceded in death by her mother and father, and daughter, Sharon Renee Kelley McLeod. She leaves to cherish her memory and life’s work with two daughters Olivia “Libby” Copes (Willie), Pamela Little, and one son Mervin Kelley (Nicole); seven grandchildren, Felicia Fencl, Miyett Little (Kendall), Fred Little, Stanley McLeod, Brittany Kelley, Brent Little (Kendra), Malachi Kelley; fifteen (15) great grandchildren, four (4) great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
“I have fought a good fight. I have finished my course. I have kept the faith; Henceforth there is a laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love His appearing.”
2 Timothy 4.7-8
