Henry T. Mitchell Jr. was born October 6th, 1956 in South Carolina to the late Blanche Washington and Henry T. Mitchell Sr.
Tommy, as he was called, grew up in Florence S.C. with his grandparents Mrs.Gaynell Anderson and Richard Anderson. Tommy was the youngest child in the household with his three older cousins, Lloyd Lawson Jr., Betty Frierson, and Shirley Singletary.
Tommy was educated in the public schools in Florence, S.C. and spent some time in the Job Corp. Early on in his life, Tommy accepted Christ as his Lord and personal savior and was baptized at Wayside Chapel Baptist Church in Florence, S.C.
As a young man, he worked several jobs such as a delivery driver, painter and custodian.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, as well as two brothers, Richard Singletary and Terry Duncan; a sister, Willie Mae Duncan.
Tommy leaves to cherish his life, a wife, Linda Mitchell; two sons, Jabriel Harris, Jamon Canty; two stepdaughters, Telecia Harris, Keonya Harris; granddaughter Yemaya Harris; grandson, Jamon Canty Jr.; two sisters Virginia McEleveen, Gloria Duncan; three brothers, Julian Bradley, Robert Duncan, Ralph Davis; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
