Jacqueline Bond Obituary

Jacqueline L. Bond, of Norfolk, Virginia, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2025, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was 74 years old.

Born on April 4, 1951, in Norfolk to the late John B. and Margaret Gibbs, Jacqueline—affectionately known as “Jackie”—was a loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend.

Jackie grew up in Norfolk, where she attended private Catholic school before graduating from Norview High School. She went on to become a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), dedicating more than 30 years to long-term care and nursing home residents. Her life’s work reflected her servant’s heart, as she poured compassion, wisdom, and care into those she served.

Jackie loved shopping, especially at her favorite store, TJ Maxx. She delighted in buying gifts for friends and family, always thinking of others first. Known for her generosity, she would gladly give the shirt off her back or her last dollar if it meant meeting someone else’s need. Quiet yet wise, Jackie lived her life with selflessness, kindness, and grace.

She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Jevaunda Bond, and her sister, Johnetta D. Johnson. Jackie leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Jahmara Bond; granddaughter, Briana Bond; grandson, Jace Hughes; her sister, Beverly Lassiter; and a host of nieces and nephews: Petrina Fowler (Timothy), Rachel Gibbs, Kimberly Johnson, Sherida Knatt (Deitrick), Selina Gibbs, Crystal Chandler (DeAngelo), Shaunta Gibbs, Jenell Johnson, Shantal Cherry and Dachae’ Johnson. She will also be deeply missed by many other relatives and close friends whose lives she touched.

A celebration of Jackie’s life will be held on September 26, 2025, at 2 pm at Keith Matthews Funeral Home, Norfolk, VA, with interment to follow. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of her remarkable life and legacy.

Jackie’s life was defined by her faith, wisdom, and endless generosity. Though she will be greatly missed, her love and legacy will live on in all who knew her.
