Jessie Nunn, Sr. Obituary

Jessie L. Nunn, Sr. was born in Norfolk, VA on March 5, 1943. He was a great provider for his family. Jessie attended public schools in Norfolk where he later was employed by the Norfolk Public Schools system. After some time, Jesse became a truck driver and drove for Tarmac/Lonestar Company for 40 years.

Jessie retired and continued driving with Branscome for 15 years. He was never without work as he also worked for Norfolk State University and Old Dominion University. Jessie also enjoyed working with the Salvation Army in his senior years as a bell ringer to support others in need.

Jessie was and will always be a pillar of hope in his community of Norfolk, VA. He was loved and respected by many for his genuine kindness he showed through sharing his bikes and fixing bikes for others in his spare time.

Jessie came to know Jesus Christ as his personal savior in 2012. He overcame many obstacles as he walked with the Lord. Facing death a few times before GOD called him home to live with him at the age of 81. Jessie’s favorite Bible verses were 1 John 4: 4-5, Ephesians 6:12, and Psalms 27. God kept Jessie strong through his bouts of sickness, COVID, several strokes, and cancer. Through all that, Jessie still managed to care for so many.

Jessie was preceded in death by his father, LeRoy Nunn; mother, Martha Davis; and his Aunt Cora, who raised him after the loss of his mother.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Sandy Warren; children, Jessie L. Nunn, Jr., Alan Nunn (Cynthia), and Michelle Watts; his step-children, Darren Warren and Shekeria Warren-Cooper (Kyle); his sister, Nellie Hinton; ex-wife, Caroline Nunn; as well as a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.

Rest well my resilient husband for you will never be forgotten in our hearts and minds.
